Princess M Graduated Kindergarten Today!

Our Princess M, who is soon to be 6 years old graduated kindergarten today. Proud mommy I am because she has done an excellent job in school this school year, 2016-2017. Proof are the certificates she garnered today!

Good thing I am no longer working and was able to dress her up with one of her favorite dresses, the red Kids Bowknot Beads Ruffles Lace Princess Party Wedding Dress  shown in the picture below. Looking gorgeous is of utmost importance to her so I must do my best dressing her like a Princess. Someday she will remember mommy as the one who bought her beautiful dresses.

I am just beyond proud right now knowing how my little girl loved school and she showed it through her certificates. I wish her well in first grade and that she will continue to excel in school next year. I love Bey Meg Meg so much!

Kindergarten Field Day 2017

Kindergarten’s Field Day for 2017 was last Friday, May 19,2017. My husband and I were there to witness Princess M’s participation of sack race, tug of war, sprint and many other activities happened that day.

She did not get any ribbon at all and felt bad for not getting any. I assured her though that it was okay, what’s important is that she enjoyed the activities and she did her best. Told her, that is all that matters!

Below is a picture of her and classmates working so hard in order to win the tug of war which they did. It was kind of funny when she came to me and showed her red palms telling me they hurt from the rope!

Home Cooked Lunch

My Princesses eat breakfast at home before going to school. And they also bring home cooked meals for lunch and they have asked me for that simply because they prefer mommy’s cooking than school cafeteria food.

I feel fortunate to be able to serve my children fresh food from home, that way, I am sure what they are getting are good food and not just some junks, empty-calorie and useless food. I believe children learn better if they are fed with the right food.

I also feel glad that when they go to school, they are full with healthy breakfast, because if you would see what the school offers for the children, they just give them cereal, cinnamon roll, milk, a few slices of fruit. I would not want my children to munch on cereal, because what is in it? Just sugar and the worst food you can ever give to school children.

For lunch, they have different meals they offer each day. Most of which are Mexican food which my children are not so fond of. They are raised by a Filipino mother so you can expect, what they are eating at home are different from the outside world.

I make sure that they are getting servings of fruits, veggies, protein and carbohydrates. Yes, carbs. Many say it is bad. But hey, children are growing, they move a lot, they have fast metabolism and carbohydrates is what they need in order to sustain that energy they need throughout the day.

Here’s a sample of what I pack for lunch for them. Some rice topped with breakfast sausages, a portion of broccoli and watermelon. Some days, I give them bread with nutella or grape jam spread, slices of cucumbers, some fried chicken, olives and whatever is available in the fridge.

As a mother, it is my responsibility to feed my children with good, tummy-filling, delicious and delightful foods. Their lunch always come with bottled water, they requested water instead of juice. Ain’t that good?

First Day of School Year 2016-2017

June 22- was the opening of classes here in Texas. The big Princess could not wait to go back to school, she probably got bored at home during summer and she missed her classmates. While the little one, did not want to go to school at first.

Big Princess is now in third grade, the little Princess in kindergarten. I can’t quite believe that I no longer have a baby that stays with me at home. The house is so quiet when they leave to school, it is all new to me and I guess, I just have to get used to it until I can get me a job.

I tried convincing her that school is actually fun, lots of coloring to do, playing, making new friends and a whole lot more. I was a bit worried on that first day that she wouldn’t come with us to school. And fortunately, as good girl as she is, she managed to survive the first day.

When they came home that day, I asked both of them how their first day went. The big one said she had a nice day. And to my surprise, the small Princess, she said “YES, she liked school!” with tongue sticking out, “yungit” in our native language. That was so nice to hear and that somehow eased my worry.

Today is the fourth day since school has started and so far so good. They wake up early, eat breakfast, wash their face, brush teeth, put on their school uniform, tidy up the hair and off to school they go!

This is going to be our daily routine every morning for the entire year until June 2. I love being a momma, although it is tiring to get up early everyday, yet my children are so worth it especially when they take home report cards with high grades in it.

School is Two Weeks Away

Amazing we only got two weeks left before school starts again and I feel like I have not had enough rest waking up early every morning. Even though it’s summer, I still get up early because I need to water my gardens instead of doing it in the afternoon.

Anyway, two weeks and both of our Princesses will be in school. Princess M will be in kindergarten and right now, she is expressing to me that she does not want to go to school. Last night I asked her again why she would not want to go to school and she told me that she is afraid she’d get lost.

I then assured her that I will be with her during the first three days, taking her to her classroom and sit beside her for a couple of minutes. I hope that eases her worries and will be encouraged to go to school comes 22nd.

I also laid out the school supplies I bought for the two Princesses so she’ll see them and they will make her excited. Not only that, I even bought her a new pair of pink Princess shoes to match with her school backpack just to encourage her to go to school.

Today, I have bought all the supplies they need for the upcoming opening of school. Well, except for that 12×18 manila construction paper that is not available elsewhere but on Amazon. I am done and done going out in the hot sun too!

Princess J Joined the Gifted/Talented Pool Program

Yesterday I attended a meeting right after school, this was to let us know what our kids do during their 90-minute class with Mr. Slater every Thursday. This program is dedicated to allow selected students to participate in lessons and activities that are designed to nurture and build potential they have demonstrated. Gifted/Talented Pool Program is not an accelerated program. It is is an enrichment/thinking skills program.

I can’t help but be proud of my daughter, we know she is smart and ahead with most of the students in her class and I am glad the teacher sees that, she nominated our girl to join this program. Take note, there are only two of them from her class that get pulled out every Thursday to attend this class.

J has been telling us about how this specific class is so fun and that his favorite teacher is Mr. Slater, the teacher in charge. I was curious and am glad I finally got to meet him yesterday at the meeting and made known to the teacher how my girl likes the program.

At the meeting we were informed what they have done so far, what are they gonna be doing for the rest of the year and showed us a bit of their project. It was nice to have attended the meeting.

Recent Shots of the Princesses

Curious what the Princesses have been up to? Well, the same old usual routine, the big Princess is going to school everyday, mommy and the little one take and pick her up there. But before we go home every afternoon, we make sure we drop by the school playground and play for ten minutes. That somehow make them exercise and content.

At night, it’s either they play some more or sit down eat dinner, watch t.v, take a nightly shower, play a bit more and go to bed. Same goes the next day after that.

On weekends, they have all the time to play indoor and outdoors. Or get to let their imagination wander by doing some painting. We have not gotten out to have fun lately except doing grocery shopping, huh… how fun is that? Anyway, we are still pretty much alive and kicking…

School Lunch Prepared by Mommy

I, as a mother is willing to go through all the trouble of waking up early everyday just so I can make my schoolgirl lunch for school and to prepare her that she is clean and well-dressed when coming to school. It is my duty and obligation to look after my children because I believe, that’s what mommies are for.

I know school provide lunch for the children but it is different when I’ll be the one to prepare my girl’s food to ensure what she is eating is healthy and clean. Also, I would know how much my child ate by checking her lunch box in the afternoon.

Here is a sample of food that I pack for her, of course everyday is different, otherwise she’ll get tired of the same food over and over again.

Below is a pack of fruit drink, a piece of potato roll with cheese inside, main dish- sauteed garlic shrimp and a side of blanched broccoli. I also put a bottle of water in her backpack in case she gets thirsty in the afternoon. Some days, she’d eat all of her food, other days, ate a little or half of it. But she is a child and can’t be forced to eat all her food.

Not Sending My First Born to School

I decided not to send to school my kindergarten student due to bitterly cold weather condition we’re experiencing right now here in North Texas. The temperature was only 17 degrees Fahrenheit but felt like 7 when we woke up. Although the FWISD has delayed the school for 2 hours, I just could not go out there and suffer from this cold weather. I don’t think it is worth the hassle of driving my kids to school in this not so very pleasant day.

Mr. Sun is up and shining on us brightly yet the temperature hasn’t improved much. Current temperature by the way is 21 degrees F. I hope the teacher will understand. Some of her students might be absent too for a pretty obvious reason like I have. 500 plus schools around here are closed, FWISD is just one of the few who chooses to let their students come to school despite of the winter warning in the area.

No School Tomorrow, Long Weekend for Us!

Tonight is a celebration when FWISD declared that there will be no school tomorrow due to icy roads! Finally, that good news came out just minutes ago. It is going to be a three-day weekend for us, I am happy and so is the student.
It is really cold out there and nasty, I don’t want to go out as much as possible. YES NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!!!!

I feel pity for my baby Princess this afternoon because she was still fast asleep in her afternoon nap when I just picked her up and put on her bulky coat to pick up the big Princess… and it was awfully cold out there… poor baby she cried she got disturbed in her afternoon nap. Her fault though, she didn’t sleep early that’s why!
